Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - Buying a car Minimalist style.

What sort of car does a Minimalist drive ?

Which of the pictures below best represents your current vehicle?  Now ask yourself which one you would choose if money were no obsticle?

Buying a car is, other than buying a home, probably one of the biggest purchases you will make during your life.  Cars, like houses, are seen by most as a real status symbol and consequently priorities can get a little blurred when deciding to purchase a motor vehicle.

Never buy new.  I think I might repeat that, NEVER buy new.  The moment you drive your car out of the new car lot it's value drops a few thousand dollars, as time goes on it's value drops even more.  The good news is that if you want to buy a secondhand car you can take advantage of this gradient of depreciation, get a great deal and save thousands of dollars.  Choosing the right time to buy a used car takes a little bit of knowledge but there is plenty of information out there that can make this process a considerably less risky venture.

My advice is to know your spend limit, discuss exactly what the vehicle will be needed for and then pick something to suit your needs.  There is absolutely no need to purchase a new vehicle when perfectly good second hand ones are available at a fraction of the cost.

Have a look at the link below, it contains some really good points to consider when making your choice.  Saving money is easy once you free yourself from the indoctrination of consumerism.
